Rainbow Book Fair

I’m going!

I’m super nervous about it, though. Mainly because it is a book fair, where I’ll need to face, live and in person, the reactions of people who look at my books. I’ll have to watch them make the decision to buy or not buy! Horrifying.

I’m also nervous because it brings up all my feelings of not really belonging in the LGBT community. This is not a Romance convention, this is an LGBT fiction event, and I kind of feel like maybe I have no right to be there? My writing is not very serious or deep, it’s just fluffy Romance with LGBT characters.

But… I’m going.next-ad-final_b

I’ve ordered paperbacks. I have bookmarks and business cards and I’ll be bribing passers-by with chocolates 🙂 So if you’re going to be in New York City on April 9th, come see me!

  1. I think we need light and fluffy LGBT books as much as we need dark serious ones. I was lucky enough that when I was growing up I found books that made being a bi woman or a lesbian seem so natural and normal. I think those kinds of books are just as important as the books that tackle the difficult, serious issues.

So rock on! I hope you have a great time!

(p.s. Is there any way someone who’s not going could get a signed copy of one of More Than Love? I’d be happy to pay for it and shipping!)

    • Sarah, you are so nice 🙂 PM me your address and I would love to send you a copy.

I agree, fluffy, light books are valuable. I guess I just feel nervous sitting in the same room with so many authors of more serious/deep work. Like I’m a total fraud! But I’m going, and I have learned a few other m/m romance authors are going so that makes me feel better, too.
I will let you know how it goes! I have to try to remember to take a few pictures to post here. 🙂

Tell me what you think!
